Kitchen of Hope

Every Thursday at 5:30 pm, Market Street offers to the community a free meal. All are our welcomed at our table and many come. Many elderly living on small pensions or social security, those living on disablity checks, those who life has thrown a few curves on their way to the Kingdom, and those who seek some company and a warm meal.

One of the leaders of the Kitchen of Hope, Pam Bowles says: "It's like cooking for your family and inviting everyone to come over." Over the years, we have seen many faces and hearts come, but each one has been a valued friend and even family.

The congregation of Market Street provide the supplies for keeping the Kitchen of Hope in operation. Also many groups within and without of the church provide the volunteers to serve our guests at each meal.

Relay for Life

Relay for Life is an exciting community gathering where everyone can participate in the fight against cancer. In over 4,400 communities across the country teams of people camp out at local high school, parks or fairgrounds to take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to raise funds and to have a representative on the track at all times during this overnight event; because cancer never sleeps.

When the sun goes down, hundreds of luminaries light the way under the stars to remember those lost to cancer, those fighting cancer and those who have fought cancer and won. The luminaries that light up the night symbolize the hope with which we all continue to fight.

The Relay invites all cancer survivors, our honored guests, to take part in the Survivor’s Victory Lap. Their courage and strength help the community see that cancer survivorship is real – that we are making progress in the fight against cancer.
